Of all the things to do in Phuket, grabbing a coffee might not be at the top of your list — but we think it should be! If you’re visiting the colourful streets of the Old Town, make a stop at Rise & Grind. Opened in June 2024, this industrial-style café delivers trendy interiors and even trendier coffee, quickly earning its spot as one of the highest-rated cafés in town.
We tried their beautifully smooth roast cappuccino and their hot OVC latte (orange, vanilla, and cinnamon), which arrived with a real slice of orange and a dusting of cinnamon. They also offer great breakfast options ranging from 80 to 120 THB.
After chatting with the owners, Ken and Hannah, we learned they lived and worked in Australia, perfecting their craft before returning to Thailand. Post-Covid, they moved from Bangkok to Phuket and eventually bought what is now Rise & Grind. Their coffee uses two house blends: Old Town, a medium–dark roast, and Laguna, a lighter, medium-bodied option. Their drip coffee is also a fun, experimental experience full of surprises — though Old Town remains the customer favourite.
What we loved most, however, were the people behind the brand. Hannah sat sketching and writing in the background, while Ken chatted warmly with the friendly staff and customers. Together, they’ve created a space that fits perfectly within the artsy neighbourhood — often described as the Brick Lane of Thailand — blending innovation with authenticity.
